and made a brief journey to the mall to buy some dude socks and dude boots, a quest in which my dad was astonishingly helpful and astonishingly low on "but you are a giiiirl" comments; he kept teasing me about wanting to go to the Disney store and buy princess paraphernalia but that is pretty much standard Dad humour
